Everybody was talking AT me, not to me. New people, teachers, peers….ideas thrown at me loudly, getting louder until all the voices were just noise at a very high decibel…intense cacophony! No one was listening to me.

Due to my father’s job, my family and I had to move during my junior year of high school. I left the place I grew up, and I was drowning in homework and rushing to get art done. I felt alone and I kept my ideas to myself. The wall of heads were the people surrounding me, blocking out what I had to say. The bed of nails was the pain I kept inside.
This project was very therapeutic and I really enjoyed the process; the malleability of the clay, the glazing, using the kiln and the final positioning on the bed of nails.

I sat on the floor with 6ft x 36” pieces of paper and created a series of drawings from different angles of a woman’s body.
Creating the fleshiness and power of the landscape of the human form with all of its rolling and undulating curves is a rewarding challenge; I gained insight and appreciation of the way we are connected and our moving parts.

Smoke stacks polluting our air.
Smoke stacks release sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere. These chemicals, though they are released high into the atmosphere, still affect air quality, which in turn damages the health of human beings, animals, vegetation and the ecosystem at large.

I sculpted a skull out of clay. I then cast the skull and made a rubber mold. I filled the skull 5 times with resin, creating five skulls each containing and living within 5 separate plexi containers filled with rubbish. This garbage has been used and discarded by humans with total disregard for its effects on society, nature and the environment we live in.
I hope this installation brings awareness to our catastrophic situation. I am very hopeful because so many people across the world including my own family and friends have taken up this mission.
Sculpting the skull from clay was very helpful in learning about the anatomy of the head. Creating a rubber mold was fascinating because I now realized I could create multiple skulls. Using resin was time intensive but the results were amazing. I not only learned the technical skills of casting but also about new materials.
Millions of birds and animals are dying each year by collision and electrocution from power lines. The bird and animal mortality rate by barbed wire around airports, national parks etc. is cruel and heartbreaking. In this modern world we should be doing more to prevent this tragedy from happening.

Until I was educated about the processes used in the creation of the everyday materials that are destroying the planet, I was not aware of the actual destruction. The Ocean Industrial Revolution is trying to stop the extinction of marine life.
The release of liquid petroleum hydrocarbons into the marine ecosystems maims and kills hundreds of thousands birds, sea turtles and mammals. They are penetrated by the oil, reducing their insulating abilities. This creates hypothermia and lessens their buoyancy. Drowning is the result. Dolphins and whales inhale the oil affecting their lungs, reproductive and immune system.
Plastic and waste incineration has one of the largest negative climate impacts.
The fossil fuels used to create plastics are oil, gas and coal.
About 12 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent are emitted while fracking to supply the USA with the arsenal it needs to create plastic. The creation and disintegration of plastics is affecting the climate, health and the ocean.
Balloons have always been a celebratory decoration bringing fun and joy. But this innocent joy is unfortunately causing environmental harm.
Wildlife, livestock, pets, sea turtles, seabirds and fish are perishing because ingestion of balloons causes obstruction, starvation and ultimately death.
Celebrations call for a sweet treat, with a cake created by colored pencils. Three wishes were made, with one candle still standing.
Something adventures. Something that is easy to learn but hard to master. Skiing is the same concept as making art. I used a new technique for this piece; spray paint to make mountains with depth.
Eyes are always watching.
One of my passions is snorkeling. I find it fascinating that there is a whole other world swimming on our earth, especially watching the sea turtles.
The red, the anger pulling me apart. The blue, the sadness in me cannot handle the problems anymore.
‘Frankie driving the car.’ This is my hysterical dog relaying to us that he is actually human!!! My dog and I have a symbiotic relationship, unbridled, sincere and just unconditional love. He is a great part of my life and I wanted to share his importance with everyone around me.
I mean who wouldn't want to eat a waffle with eyes in it for breakfast?
An artwork to help me with the human body. Before drawing the human body, I need to understand the inside and the bones. To understand how they work and move.
My first oil painting. I chose this still life because it reminded me of a Renaissance still life. I am taking AP Art History and Renaissance paintings are some of my favorites. I loved the different heights, planes and lighting. Painting so many textures was challenging, but it was so rewarding; the soft fruit, the shiny copper bowl, the stone pedestal and the craggy bird nest all intrigued me.
The drama of a simple still life. The elegance of the drapery and the shine of the glazed ceramic vessels enticed me to take on the challenge of painting the various textures, trying to attain the softness and undulation of the drapery versus the hard breakable vases.

I enjoyed the process and feel I learned so much about the use of oil paint and the different effects I could attain through color and brush strokes.
The bank is closed.
The banker steals the loot.
The cops catch him…dead end!
End of story!!!
My installation, created with traffic signs, tells the story of a man who has been corrupted by society. The greedy monopoly man had such a craving for money that he stole from the bank. Traffic signs are seen everyday by all people and corruption should be transparent.
Others always see my physical appearance the same; never thinking I could change. Mentally I change often, mostly for the better, but no one would ever suspect that.
